Hello, dedicated readers! It’s time for another edition of The Mikey Heller Gazette (formerly The Diarrhea Gazette). There’s a lot of cArEeR uPdAtEs and other stuff, so let’s get to it.
Last month, I had the pleasure of being on the Everything Now Show. I got to do figure drawings of a parade of whacky characters. It rocked my damn ass off. Give it a watch and subscribe to Everything Now Show!
Now for the ANIMATION CAREER stuff! We all know the industry is in the toilet. I’m talkin’ a big industry-sized turd ROASTING in a cracked gas station crapper. But I feel very lucky to have a few little things going on these days. Here’s a rundown, all of which has to be super vague due to NDA reasons:
Spent some time writing at a place, and now I don’t work there, lol.
Wrapped development work on a project being done overseas. I hope it gets made!
Just started development on a cool project SOMEWHERE.
Pitched a THING at a PLACE. Perhaps it was IP????
I’m in the middle of drawing a comic book that’ll be published by Silver Sprocket. It’s called Silverlake Snakes. It’s about a bunch of snakes and a worm. Here they are!
It’s based on a pilot script I wrote. Let me know if you want to read it!
Speaking of comics, my bi-monthly comic reading series is this Friday at Heavy Manners Library at 7 pm. Come to the show! We’ve been doing it for two and a half years, and it’s always a goddamn blast.
Did you know I used to do stand-up comedy? I totally forgot, too. In June, my friend Colin Burgess and I are putting on LATE MIC. It’s a monthly open mic styled like a late-night talk show. Anyone (even non-comedians) can sign up to be guests. The first one is on June 4th at 7 p.m. at Nico’s in Atwater Village!

Also, do you like to read? If yes (or no), then you NEED to follow my friend Dewey Lovett because she’s releasing her novel with Humorist Books this fall. I read a draft recently, and it was such a fun read.
Ya like cool-ass comedy albums? Clare O’Kane recently released her latest comedy album, Everything I Know How To Do, with Pretty Good Friends Records. And no surprise here, it’s all killer, no filler!!! Go buy it and listen to it!!!!!!!!!
Lastly, I must give a shout-out to Silver Lake Shorts, the BEST shorts screening in Los Angeles, run by Jared Corwin and Benjamin Sharpe. It’s an incredibly supportive institution constantly looking for ways to support local artists and filmmakers (I’m talkin’ GRANTS babyyy). If you’re in LA, you should check it out and see some rockin’ good films. You can even submit your own!
